.800 Silver Perfume container with sponge applicator. The lid of the oval container has an embossed pastoral scene of a cherub holding a bunch of grapes. Sides embossed with garlands and wreaths. When opened the sponge has a strong scent. Bottom marked “.800 silver, Made in Italy.” In the 1730s the French artist Francois Boucher painted The Cherub Grape-pickers, and at least since then cherubs with grapes has been popular with artists and sculptures. 3/4” x 1-3/4.”

“1921 Pageant The Net of Progress” Silk screened red and blue cover pictures a young lady in a blue swimsuit relaxing on the sand, in the background a picture of the Pier, a U.S. flag on a pole and boats on the lake. Pageant held along the Municipal Pier (Navy Pier) in Chicago, Il. Envelope made of glassine, a strong, thin, glazed, semitransparent paper introduced between 1915 and 1920. DATED: 1921.

Both panels have a cream color background with a framed circular painting of a late 19th century woman against a grass green background. Each woman is wearing a very large black hat over her white hair. A bouquet of red and purple flowers highlight both pictures. There are several 3 and 4 leaf clovers around the outside of the frame. Center panel faux brown leather embossed in a floral design. Each panel 5” x 6-3/4.” DATE: Late 19th Century.

DAVE PUT IN BOTH PHOTOS. The mirror, brush and comb are made of gutta percha, an early moldable compound, whitish in color. The back of the mirror and brush are embossed with a floral and scroll motif.
Art nouveau celluloid box, top pictures a lady in profile encircled in a frame and surrounded by floral motif of flowers and green foliage with embossed gold along the top edges. Top attached at back with 2 brass hinges and brass closure at the front. The bottom edged in ivory celluloid with an embossed floral motif. Bottom 10” across. Top curves in and then rises up to a height of 3-1/2,” depth 5.” Teal satin lining.

Celluloid containers with an overlay in green faux marble for face powder, rouge, nail buffer and lipstick. When opened the top stands upright, exposing the beveled mirror on the inside. The bottom of the containers for face powder, rouge and nail buffer are glued to the base, lipstick holder and nail file fit into a stationary clip. When closed case is 2-1/2” high. Looks new and unused.

Amber Czech Glass Perfume Bottle
When the Collector bought the bottle in Budapest in 2001 she was told by the seller bought the bottles in that although the bottles weren’t original the molds were and that a limited number were made from the original molds that were discovered in the late 1990s in the Bohemian village of Desna. They are not marked but photos and information available online suggests that they are Desna designs. DATE: Original molds 1920 to 1940.

“Avon Demonstration Lipsticks, Not to be sold,” 30 colors (1 missing), includes 14 3” x 3-1/4” cards, front says “Please accept this miniature Avon Lipstick with the compliments of your Avon Representative.” There is a small hold to insert sample. The back lists lipstick and rough shades and suggests nail polish colors.
Bavaria Porcelain Perfume Bottle
Art deco geometric figural flapper in shades of blue, the stopper a white porcelain woman’s head, hair black flapper style with red lips and earrings. The head is attached to the cork which holds the glass dauber. Bottom marked “Bavaria.” The collector has seen the same bottle being sold as part of a three piece set which included a man and child. 6” from top of head stopper to the bottom of the bottle.
