Black bucket shape hat with horizontal pleats
Black bucket shape hat with horizontal pleats of velvet and velvet covered wire rim. 18β black velvet feather sweeps around from the back to the front of the hat. A sloped brim stands away from the face. Brim is 3β wide at front and back, and 2β at the sides. Hat is 8β tall, 13β front to back and 9β measured over top of crown. The brim of the hat is lined in cream velvet, the rest in black silk, with velvet covering a wire rim; inside the top of the crown stamped in gold w/logo βChesebro Hats, 621 Grand Avenue, Milwaukee. Brimless hat in a bucket shape constructed over a fabric
Brimless hat in a bucket shape constructed over a fabric covered wire form. Hat has a black crepe crown draped in loose folds. The bottom 3β of perimeter of the hat is wrapped in soft horizontal folds with 2 large stylized feathers made of crepe attached at the front side and a silver and rhinestone pin. When worn the underside of the lining along the rim can be seen. It is covered with crepe, the crown is lined with black silk taffeta. The hat is 9β height, 10β diameter and would have sat high on the head. It is likely a mourning hat,βcrape anglaise" spelled with an "a" to indicate mourning crape, material specifically used by widows. DATE: Circa 1914, Edwardian.
Ecru bucket shape hat
Ecru bucket shape hat with a fabric covered wire form. Hat is made of woven horsehair gathered in layers from the top of crown to the brim giving the appearance of ruffles. 2β upturned brim covered in self fabric. The right front is adorned with two large pink silk flowers and soft pink and ecru feather like strands slightly tucked in along the top of the brim and extending across the front. At the center back the same strands are used for a 13β tail. The underside has a wire cage with 2β wide band around the bottom. When wore the band rests on the top of the head so that it sits high. 13β wide and 7β high. DATE: Edwardian
Wide brimmed black straw hat
Wide brimmed black straw hat covered with 2 layers of black scalloped lace and a deep red border. On one side and extending to the top of the hat are 3 large red carnations, bunches of tiny red buds. On the other side of the crown is a large black bird is at rest among the foliage, each wing extends out just above over the top of the hat w/a 9β expanse, feathers painted black and varnished; 7β high with an 11β diameter, 3β brim and 26β black netting stringers that tie into a bow under the chin. DATE: 1895 to 1905.

Wide brimmed black straw hat. Brown fabric 3β wide covers half of the crown and extends around the crown ending on the opposite side in a very large bow. The front of the crown is embellished with a wide ornament with symmetrical sides. It has a cluster of clear crystal beads in the center andd beads are also woven into ecru netting and embroidery. 16β diameter. DATE: 1919.
Wide brimmed green woven hat
Wide brimmed green woven hat with 2β turned up brim, thick ruffled white organza and ribbon gathered around the brim, overlay of yellow silk and velvet flowers and leaves and a green feathered bird that sits to the side just above the crown. The entire hat is covered with tulle.Black lining. Circa1905.
Woven black and white raffia hat
Woven black and white raffia hat with an extremely complicated design. Brim is solid black woven raffia, crown is black and white woven raffia. Hat is lined in fine black silk. Front of the hat is decorated with an elaborate combination of white silk flowers, black velvet ribbon, real jet ornament and wing like decoration of black velvet that is bordered with black and white woven raffia and two large black feathers which curve up and over the crown. The front right side and part of the back is draped with black window pane netting. 11β diameter and about 11β tall. DATE: Circa 1905.
