Godeyʼs Ladyʼs Book, a monthly Magazine designed to entertain, inform and educate the women of America. This issue includes fold out colored plates of 5 fashionably dressed women, pictures of fashionable hats, articles including personal stories, f biographical sketches, “Work Department” with knitting instructions,
“Literary Notices” about new books, “Receipts (sic)” “Godeyʼs Arm-Chair” and information about a variety of subjects, and advertisers at the back. Every issue had the same cover, engraved in black with a floral and vegetable motif and 4 framed ovals of women pursuing their daily activities with their children. February, Fortieth Year, Vol. LXXX No.476, Edited by Mrs. Sarah J. Hale, L.A. Godey, 1870. Founded and published by Louis A.
