Product code: 2010.67.4b Categories: Daily Lives, Needlework, Sewing.Iroquois Pin Cushion, front has 2 beaded flowers and leaf on a duty rose velvet background, accented with a leaf motif bordering scalloped edge. Beads are raised, the beadwork almost three dimensional and in clear, blue, pink, gray and yellow glass beads. 3/4” loops of clear beads hang down from the 4 corner scallops. Back is ecru polished cotton. Cushion is very heavy, they were commonly stuffed with sawdust, cotton batting or cattail fluff. 9-1/2’ wide, 8” deep an 3” high. These were made by the Indians and usually sold as souvenirs. DATE: Late 19th century.
